An enormous thank you to all who participated. We had a wide range of events this year. At one end were individual Big Days by the Willis and Kotin families and Mark Osokow’s team in the north of the San Fernando Valley, through an open big day when Jim Moore raced around the upper desert followed by 5 carloads of birders!
Our regular leaders were able to tally numbers on our regular bird events (Dick Barth in Morongo Valley, Kris Ohlenkamp at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve, Carolyn Oppenhiemer at O’Melveny Park, Nancy Herron-Knode at Descanso Gardens, Art Langton at Malibu Creek State Park).
At the other extreme our first Big Sit gave birds an opportunity to come to us, and the Children’s Birdathon brought out about 20 families whose children had a wonderful time spotting and comparing the number of species spotted!
The pledged are coming in in the next few weeks so the amount raised has yet to be decided!
