Migratory Shorebirds at the LA River

September 8, 2007
7:15 am

Bring your bins and scopes to sort through hundreds of shorebirds visiting this special habitat! From late July through September, thousands of migratory shorebirds take advantage of the Los Angeles River to rest and feed before continuing their long southbound trips. Many resident shorebirds and water birds also utilize this habitat.

Join us for a special outing to this area on Saturday, September 8th. We will meet at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Area parking lot at 7:15 AM and carpool to the river site at W 27th St. & De Forest Ave. in Long Beach, arriving by 8 AM. We may visit several sites, depending on what has been recently spotted. We’ll plan to leave around 11 AM, returning to the parking lot about noon.

Reservations are not needed. For more information, contact Jim Hardesty
