Bird LA Day is a Springtime event when Angelenos from all over the city celebrate our native and visiting birds as a community.
SFVAS is hosting three of the day's bird walks: one at Placerita Canyon and two at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve.
Click links below for specific times, directions and maps.
Placerita Canyonis a beautiful natural space -- hard to believe you're so close to a major city! The walk leader is Roger McClure, who knows the area and its birds better than most.
The Lake @ SBWA
The first walk at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Area will be led by Art Langton, an icon of the SFVAS birding community. Shorebirds and waders a specialty; it's breeding season and migrants are everywhere.
Off to see the birds!
The second SBWA walk (starts at 9:00, an hour later) is especially for kids and their parents (one adult per child minimum). Loaner binoculars will be available; after the walk we'll discuss what we've seen and have snacks. Led by ultra-kid-friendly Paula Orlovich.
