The Intersection of Technology and Interesting Birds of the World
Dave Weeshoff, Conservation Chair of the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society, will present a visual summary of the numerous technologies, historical and current, employed by ornithologists, paleontologists and climate scientists to study the history, behavior and destiny of wild birds throughout the world. Examples include satellite tracking, genomic DNA studies, ultra high-speed photography, and sophisticated real-time data analysis.
Dave Weeshoff, is a frequent public and classroom speaker regarding environmental issues including wild bird protections, climate change, ocean plastic pollution, urban runoff and oil spills on behalf of Audubon, Heal the Bay, 5-Gyres, the Climate Reality Project, and International Bird Rescue.
He has traveled extensively to such destinations as the high Arctic, Antarctic, Galapagos, Midway Atoll, Alaska, and New Zealand to further his knowledge and record in photos the state of our oceans, wildlife, and their habitats.
