General Membership Meeting — and Roadrunners!

Thurs., May 26 — Roadrunners of Southern California — with Mark Mendelsohn

Mark Mendelsohn is a wildlife and vegetation biologist working under a cooperative agreement between the Mountains Restoration Trust and National Park Service in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. His love for field biology sprouted during his undergraduate work at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and he completed his master’s degree at San Diego State University. There, he studied the effects of habitat fragmentation on the Greater Roadrunner in San Diego County. Mark remains very interested in this topic, in particular its application at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SAMO). In his presentation, Mark will summarize his thesis work, and use it and the literature as a lens for studying the distribution–highlighting citizen science data–of this iconic bird in the greater Santa Monica Mountains region.
