Scott Harris dedicated 17 months to pursuing 53 raptor species across 34 states, embarking on his own Raptor Big Year. His book, Raptor Quest: Chasing America’s Raptors, chronicles this year-long journey to find every raptor species in the lower 48 states. In this presentation, Scott will share his adventures, misadventures, successes, and failures. While the primary focus will be on the birds, Scott will also talk about the people he encountered, the lessons he learned, and his plans for his next adventure.
Scott discovered his passion for birding in March 2020, a hobby he now cherishes deeply. That same year, he and his wife, Randi, retired from California to South Carolina.
In California, Scott was a prolific media personality, writing a syndicated newspaper column and hosting two weekly radio shows. He and his son, Justin, also co-hosted a weekly live radio show dedicated to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Throughout his career, Scott served on numerous boards, including the Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Pepperdine University, Moorpark College, and California State University, Northridge.
