Dr. Peter Coates will be speaking about his investigation of the links between nesting habitat, predator composition, and incubation behavior and success of birds, especially when it comes to Crows and Ravens. His research interests include Avian Ecology, Conservation Biology, and Habitat Modeling.

He is a Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Geological Survey, and also worked as a seasonal biological specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. As of now, he works at the Western Ecological Research Center in Dixon, California. He has written papers on Fire Science and Greater Sage-Grouse Population Ecology.

Dr. Coates received his Ph.D. in Biology from Idaho State University. He belongs to professional and honorary societies and advisory committees, including the American Ornithologists Union, Cooper Ornithological Society, Society for Conservation Biology, and The Wildlife Society.
