San Fernando Valley Audubon Society (SFVAS) opposes Los Angeles City Proposition SP and recommends voting NO.
SFVAS strongly supports the city’s Department of Recreation and Parks. The department manages three of our most important bird watching locations. Proposition SP, a parks and recreational facilities parcel tax, was slapped together at the last minute without community input. It is unclear what facilities this new tax will fund.
SFVAS recommends voting no on this flawed proposition. We look forward to a thoughtful proposition for needed funding for park facilities that is developed openly and with community input and oversight, and hope to be voting for such a proposition in 2024.
