Over 280 species of birds have been seen at Hansen Dam, which holds the record for most species seen in a day in the San Fernando Valley at 120. It is a huge area with lots of varied habitat. Walks are on the fourth Saturday of every month. We are gathering at a new, hopefully simpler location. The map and directions below are precise for computers and smart phones. If you’re using your car’s sat-nav, the address 11640 Foothill Blvd., Sylmar will get you very close. Continue off the freeway, go right on Foothill, then take a left at the Hansen Dam Soccer Fields parking, meet in the dirt lot on the east side of the parking lot.
Pat Bates leads. If she has more important stuff to do, she’ll make every effort to line up another leader. Either way, it’s great birding.
